Damien Hirst

Is an English Artist that has become world-renown and internationally famed. We looked at his work in my Freshman Art seminar class when we were looking at contemporary reliqueries. This piece, titled "The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living," is a 14-foot tiger shark imprisoned in a formaldehyde case. When he sold this piece in 2004, Damien became the second most expensive living artist. A lot of his pieces have the theme of death. This other piece is a lamb in a formaldehyde case, titled "Away from the Flock."

I've seen some of his work at the Chambers Art Hotel in Minneapolis!
