The most recent assignment we had in my intaglio class is Monoprinting. I've never done it before, but I thought it was so much fun! It's quite a bit different from traditional intaglio printmaking. Instead of making a design on a plate and then reproducing the design many, many times, Monoprinting is a type of once-only printmaking. By manipulating ink on a sleek surface (in my instance, Plexiglas) and running it through the press, it creates one-of-a-kind prints. Most of mine had at least two runs (with different colors) but some have up to four. The two with the fine black lines, that is ink, put on by hand afterwards. There are unlimited possibilities with Monoprints, and here are just four of mine.
